travel guide: emerald pools
this hike was a great one to do with the whole family. we went early saturday morning and caught a free shuttle from our hotel to the park. it was fairly crowded because it's easier and kid friendly but it's definitely still worth it!
the start of the hike is an easy walk on a paved road and is mostly shaded by trees. once you walk a bit you start to get drizzled on! warning: you will get wet on this hike! i think that's what makes it more fun! you get to walk behind a little waterfall. the kids found this part especially fun.
after the first pool, there are two others. they gradually get more difficult the higher you go. we made it to the last pool and i was so proud of the kiddos! i think it was more dried up than usual but the surroundings were beautiful. there are a lot of big rocks for people to sit on and enjoy the view. if i remember correctly, there was even a family having a pizza! again, i would advise everyone to bring snacks and lots of water. snacks were good encouragement for the kids, we gave the littlest some licorice and he was a happy camper the whole way up!
once you're finished with the hike, there are great places to see just outside of zion. we ate at a cute restaurant called meme's that serves theee best crepes. on the same street, there are plenty of gift shops, two ice cream parlors and a candy store too! they are all within walking distance making it easy for the kids.
all in all this was such a fun trip. i highly recommend visiting zion national park. it's truly amazing to be able to witness the beauty of this place in person. pictures don't do justice! here are a few from our hike to the emerald pools.
