finding joy in the unknown
when my mom saw the picture i posted on instagram from this shoot of us running through the sand, she sent me a text saying she wants that picture to hang up because it reminds her of two people that are running joyfully to the savior. i just thought that was the sweetest compliment.
this shoot was so fun. we got up super early on memorial day and drove 2 hours to the location. it's called the little sahara sand dunes and it's just south of provo. i love this wedding dress company, it's called alp bridal. it's actually the sister company of the temple dress collaboration i did a while back (you can read more about that here).
on our way home, aaron insisted that there was a back way he took once but wasn't sure...we decided to try it! it started as a dirt road...but never ended. once we got to what we thought would be a paved road (about 30 minutes later), it turned onto another dirt road. we didn't think our little prius would make it. no cell reception, a half bag of tortilla chips and a bottle of water. every time we passed a trailer with people we said "check point!" haha we figured that if anything happened we would just walk back to them. as aaron started to panic, i just started to laugh!
we had no idea what was going to happen or if we would ever make it back in once piece but for some reason i was fine. it's so much easier to just be happy in situations like that because there is less stress and no contention. i wasn't mad that aaron took me on a deserted road with no signs of civilization (although i think he thought i would be). it was just hilarious. there were literally cows and horses roaming in the middle of the road. how can you not laugh at that?
anywho. find ways to be happy when the unknown arises. it only makes the situation better when we can find ways to laugh. also shout out to aaron for being a champ and coming to this shoot with me, it's totally not his thing but he rocked it ;)
