the perfect disaster
i didn't think it could get worse! canceled flights, crazy fog, and risks galore. my best friend came home from her mission on thursday and aaron and i planned to go to california to see her when she got in. i haven't seen her in three years (it was the happiest reunion) however, it was a a whirlwind of disasters to get there.
SO, we decided to go the cheap route and find a flight to california through allegiant airlines. (mistake #1) we got a ride to provo and was waiting for about an hour until we heard over the loud speaker that our flight would be delayed until 6 PM due to fog. 8 HOURS FROM WHEN WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE. i just about cried as aaron kept telling me it was going to be alllll ok. (he's really the best at that) it wasn't even certain that it would leave! and we weren't getting a refund. so we were stranded in provo without a car and our angelic friends came to save us. we hung out with them until 5 and they took us back to the airport. it was chaotic! the tiny airport was backed up with cars and people running around trying to get rides home. all flights were cancelled that night.
i grab aaron and run to our friend's car, "we have to get on jetblue!!" we had less than 2 hours to book a flight and leave from salt lake. however, every time aaron proceeded to buy the tickets the price kept jumping up...and up....and up....! i was praying for a miracle this whole time. we get to the airport and don't even have tickets yet. aaron calls up jetblue asking for them to honor the original price and after what seemed like an hour he comes up to me and they can't. (it is AFTER the trial of your faith that miracles happen) he goes up to the lady at the front desk and she tells him the prices jumped up AGAIN. i was bawling, people were asking me if i was ok as i tried to hold back the tears and just smile.
aaron knew how much this trip mean't to me so he said hesitantly, "ok let's do it i guess." the lady then said, "hold on, let me see what i can do." after a few short minutes she was able to get us really nice seats at the original price. (WE LOVE JETBLUE) now, i know this may be minor but to me it was a miracle. we got our refund and were able to get to california that night. it was a testimony builder for me to know heavenly father answers our prayers, no matter how minor they may seem. you never know how it is possible but it happens and i'm blown away every time.
here are some pictures from our trip to crystal cove for lunch one day. it's a little town of cottages off the beach in newport. i always enjoy finding new spots where i grew up and experiencing them with aaron. :)
