how do collaborations even work?
when i first heard the word "collaboration" i honestly googled it! it was so foreign to me. i was so clueless to how photographers and models and amazing vendors got together and created magic. there was even an app for it! (collabor8)
so i modeled once before my mission. it was for a silk jean company called koben (you can see my first shoot here lol) and then left on my mission. when i returned, i got back on instagram and saw all these adorable boutiques everywhere in utah! i had no fear and found the cutest one (piper and scoot) then just emailed them and asked if they needed a model! it was so weird but i thought nothing of it. they agreed and let me embarrass myself for two shoots. i never got asked again. (face palm emoji)
honestly, that was really hard for me at first. at the beginning i was scheduled for 4 shoots with them, then after two they said they didn't need me anymore. i felt i wasn't pretty. i kept asking myself what i did wrong. i cringed at the thought of asking companies to model for them. i am glad i did though, because then people started noticing me. i would occasionally get messages through instagram to model.
this leads me to "collaborations". they are, simply, actions of working with other people to make something amazing. so a collaboration includes models, photographers, clothing companies, sometimes wedding dress designers etc. these collaborations help companies become noticed. i think its thrilling to get together with other creatives to make some magic happen.
this shoot was a collaboration i did with my new friend maddi! we just met through instagram and got together and shot one night at the capitol building. maddi reached out to me and asked if i wanted to shoot and i of course obliged! she is starting photography and wanted to get her name out. i, as a blogger/model, did to! it's always a win win! let me know if you have any other questions about collaborations!
